About
Amy Herman founded Gateway Interior Design in 2009.
After 14 years as a successful designer in Chicago, Amy relocated to St. Louis over 5 years ago. Prior to starting Gateway Interior Design, she was a Project Manager / Senior Designer with a residential and commercial interior design firm in St. Louis, Missouri. While in Chicago, Amy successfully owned and operated her first design company, Interior Design Merchandising, Inc.(IDM).
During her career, Amy has gained extensive experience in Model Home Merchandising and has worked with several large home builders from the Midwest to the East Coast. She has worked on many high-end residential projects, both condominium and single-family, new construction and major renovations, and has recently added strong commercial and hospitality experience and knowledge of “Green” building methods and codes.
Amy is a multi “Key” award winner from the Chicago Home Builders Association and her designs helped her company receive the Gold and Silver Community of the year recipient in 1999 from the Senior Council of the National Association of Home Builders. Recently, her work on The Gatesworth’s new “West Wing” expansion project at One McKnight Place in St. Louis, was featured several times in the Ladue News. The new wing elevated the facility to one of the top 10 Senior Communities in the Country listed by Forbes Magazine. She is currently an allied member of ASID, a member of The Webster Groves/Shrewsbury Chamber of Commerce, The United States Green Building Council-St. Louis Chapter, Benjamin Moore Advisory Board, and volunteers time as a Crew Leader in Training for Habitat for Humanity in St. Louis.
Educational background includes undergraduate studies in Interior Design at University of Kansas and Harrington Institute of Interior Design in Chicago. She completed her studies at the Illinois Institute of Art, graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design.
